Obituary of Francis J. Minchella

Francis J. Minchella Sr. passed away Saturday October 31st, 2015 in Bethlehem Township, New Jersey at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Alice Minchella until her passing in 2014, beloved father of Laura Minchella until her passing in 2012. Francis is survived by eight children; Francis Minchella Jr , Paul Minchella, Kenny Minchella, Mary Devine, Tom Minchella, Peter Minchella, Stephen Minchella, and Anthony Minchella. Francis is survived by eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Francis attended Public Schools in Iselin and Colonia from grades 1-5. He attended St. James School in Woodbridge, New Jersey with the Sisters of Mercy. In September 1942, without speaking French, Francis attended the College de l'Assomption in QC, Canada, in classe Preparatoire. Francis returned home in 1946. From February, 1946 to June 1949, Francis attended the St. Peter's Jesuit College in Jersey City, New Jersey. He majored in Philosophy and English. In the summers of 1947 and 1948, Francis trained at the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia and served active duty for the United States Marine Reserve from 1950-1953. Francis was discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1955. Francis was employed as an assistant manager in New York and Detroit by Stouffers Restaurants, Liturgical Imports Ltd., construction and National Laboratories. In 1960, Francis was employed by 3M company and retired after 30 years. Friends and family may gather on Monday November 2, 2015 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00am on Tuesday November 3, 2015 at St. Ann's Church in Hampton NJ. Internment will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Francis may be made to the Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
