Al was a good friend to me. We first met 40 years ago when Steve, Marla, and I were in school together and I sometimes hung around their house in Whitehouse. In later years, Al was a tremendous influence in helping me to conduct myself in a way my family and friends could be proud of. He instilled in me the confidence I needed when I needed it most. I will always remember Al with his positive attitude and knowing smile. He was always proud of his kids, and took great pleasure in showing me their pictures, especially of Marla, because he knew how much I liked her when we were in high school. The fact that I haven't seen him in the last 10 years doesn't diminish how much I admired and respected him. God bless you, Al.
