I just saw, today, that Rich passed away years ago. Obviously, we lost touch with one another. Like so may others, I met Rich on-line as a collector of his gorgeous works of art. We e-mailed one another quite often, and he would tell me about the old ladies in his backyard (turkeys if I remember correctly). He loved to watch them, and would give me progress reports. He was a remarkable man. I only wish I could have met him. However, I am fortunate that I got to know him, for the little bit that I did. Now, we are in the age of COVID-19. The pieces I have of his that are displayed throughout my house, remind me that there is still beauty in this world that we live in. Thanks, Rich, for perpetuating that beauty. Rest in peace, my friend. Kip

Very late in finding out about Rich. I met him through his work and although we live far apart we became email friends. Like Rich I have spent my life as an artisan and since we are both the same age we had even more in common. He was so generous with his skills and I have numerous original pieces he made. When I read his obit this morning (8/4/2015) the wind was completely knocked out of me. What a fine man. I am so fortunate to have known him and as I age I continue to reach for the level of craftsmanship he displayed. He may not be with us physically but his beautiful way of turning metal to beauty will live on. As artist we really can not ask for more. I hope to work with you sometime in the future Rich.

I was saddened to here about Rich passing. I just found out today (it's January 11, 2015). I met Rich through ebay. I was his customer. He was truly a great artist. We corresponded a bit and I was fortunate to get to know him a little. God bless your family and Rich.

Barbara and sons,
How surprised I was when I saw Rich's obituary in the Democrat. I am so very sorry for your loss. I still treasure the silver bowl he gave to me. What a kind, sweet soul; I know you will miss him very much. Much sympathy to you, Barbara, I feel so badly.

You were a Top Bloke, a True Blue mate who I will miss immensely. Your fantastic sense of humour, your quality workmanship and your advice on all things in life. When the thunder rolls in I'll know it's you smacking some more metal. Farewell good mate.

Rich mentored me (Joe) with a due amount of patience in my entry level position as a Facilities Planner at Bell Labs. His knowledge and sense of humor made the job more interesting. We fondly remember the dinners and parties with Rich, Barbara and other Bell Labs folks. He was a great guy and we loved him. Our condolences to his family.

We are very sad to learn of Rich's passing. We first met Rich years ago at a Craftsman Farms show. As a new metal artisan he offered me tips and gave me a kick press. We followed Rich home on our way to back to Chicago, to pick it up and met his wife and younger son who "loved bugs"!
Have never forgotten Rich and always remember him with kind thoughts. We have one of his pewter dishes which is an example of Rich's fine craftsmanship.
Our deepest condolences to his family. May you live long and always remember him.

Very sad to hear of Rich's passing. They broke the mold when they made Rich, and while I didn't know him as well as some, I feel blessed to have known him at all, known his music, heard him perform, and experienced moments of the deep wise soul he was. Love and hugs to Barbara and family from Peter and I.
