Obituary of Jean O. Murphy
Jean O. Murphy, age 89, of Clinton NJ, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Jean was born in Luzerne, PA, the daughter of the late Bart and Caroline Olash. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William T. Murphy in 2010.
Jean graduated from Misericordia University and obtained a Master’s of Science from Seton Hall University. She first worked at Merck, and later became a science teacher in the Cranford School District in NJ.
Jean was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Church in High Bridge for many years. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed spending part of each year in Cape Coral, FL. She loved to travel, but most of all, she loved people and being together with her family. Jean was an eternal optimist, who saw the glass not just as half full, but full to the brim. Her humor, wisdom, and spirit will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by three daughters and one son: Jean Callihan and her husband David of Harrisburg, PA; Carol Silva and her husband Andy of Davie, FL; Patricia Roder and her husband Paul of Middletown, NJ; and William Murphy. She also is survived by her five grandchildren: Genevieve, Sean, Sky, Catherine and Christopher. Jean also leaves behind her beloved dog Riddick.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Audrey Murray and her daughter Ieva for the exceptional care and attention they gave to Jean over the past few years.
Friends and relatives may gather on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 21 at St. Joseph Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ with Fr. James officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township PA.
