Obituary of Rosa Herrera

Rosa Herrera, age 93, of Belvidere, NJ formerly of Hillside and Newark, NJ passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Buttonwood Behavioral Health Hospital in Pemberton, NJ.  Rosa was born September 15, 1924 in Camajuani, Las Villas, Cuba . She is the daughter of the late Pelayo Rionda and the late Maria Luisa Rodriguez. Her husband, Diego Felipe Herrera died on April 19, 1989.  

Born and raised in Cuba, Rosa worked for the Cuban phone company (formerly AT&T), raising through the ranks from phone operator to Administrative Assistant.  In 1969, Rosa and her daughter Imeria joined her son, Diego, in the United States followed by her husband a short time after.  Coming to America and becoming a citizen was an extremely important goal for Rosa. In the US, she worked for various companies, including PathMark, her last employer, from which she retired in 1991. Rosa will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and hardworking mother, grandmother and, great grandmother.   

Rosa is survived by her daughter Imeria Rebozo and her husband Osvaldo of Clinton, NJ; son Diego Herrera and his wife JoAnne of Washington Township, NJ; sisters Fefa Dominguez and Lilian Samper; grandchildren Christian and Sonia Rebozo; great grandchildren Elias, Emyalissa, Elexus and Christiania.

Relatives and friends may gather on Friday, August 3 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and Saturday, August 4 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 4 at the funeral home with Life Celebrant Ruthann Brown Disotell officiating.  Burial will be in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union on Monday, August 6 at 11:00 am.
