Obituary of Gerard J Capece
Gerard Joseph Capece, 84, of Annandale, N.J. where he lived with his nephew Robert and family, formerly of Belleville, N.J. for 47 years. Son of the late Giuseppe and Carmela Valvano Capece, he is also predeceased by his brothers Donato, Salvatore, Vito, Rocco; and sister Margaret.
Gerard served in the United Stated Armed Forces as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked for Peerless Tube Corporation of Bloomfield, N.J. as an engineer before becoming a teacher. He continued his career at East Side and Malcolm X Shabaaz Schools where he taught Industrial Arts. He was a active parishioner of Saint Lucy's Church in Newark, N.J. When he was not volunteering his time at the church, Gerard was frequently seen outside in his yard tending to his gardens. Gerard loved spending time outdoor with his nephews and always made time for his great-nieces.
He is survived by his nephews, Christopher, Gregory and Robert Capece. He was a firm believer in God, patriotism and his family. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5 until 7 PM at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, N.J. 08809. Family will meet on Friday morning at 9:00AM at the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Old Allerton Road, Annandale, New Jersey. Interment will be private.
