Obituary of Brigid T. Behan

Brigid T. Behan, age 89, of Bethlehem, PA. died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Country Meadows in Bethlehem, Pa. Brigid was born on September 15, 1925 in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, Ireland. She was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Smith. Born and raised in Ireland, she traveled to America on the first Trans-Atlantic flight with her sister Eileen. In November of 1950, she married the love of her life John. They resided in Jersey City before moving with her family to Fords, NJ in 1966 finally retiring to Annandale NJ in 2000. She devoted her life and her love to her family & friends who were her world. She was actively engaged in the Irish community, never losing her love for her Irish roots. She was very involved in church activities and often volunteered at schools in support of her children. Her Irish soda bread and pot roast were legendary. The best parts of her will live on in the many lives she touched. She is predeceased by her husband John, sisters Kathleen and Peggy, and her brothers Peter and Jim. Surviving are her two sisters, Eileen & Maureen, along with her six children & their spouses: Mary Ann and Gary, John and Eileen, Peg and Dan, Brian and Janice, Brigid and Pat, and Beth and Armand. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all. The family will receive guests on Saturday, January 24th from 9:30 am to10:30 am at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24 at St. Catherine Of Sienna, 2 White Bridge Rd., Pittstown, NJ 08867. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clinton Twp., NJ.
