Obituary of Betty Ann Carlson
Betty Ann (nee Vybihal) Carlson, 78, of Hampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center. Born on January 30, 1946, in Little Ferry, NJ, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Anna Vybihal.
Betty Ann spent her formative years in High Bridge, NJ, where she attended High Bridge High School. Growing up, she contributed to her family’s business, John’s Market, developing a strong work ethic and a deep connection to her community. She later pursued her passion at cosmetology school in Bridgewater, delighting family and friends by styling their hair in the warmth of her family kitchen.
Her professional career was marked by dedication and care, as she served as an administrative supervisor for Charlestown Medical, now Hunterdon Family Medicine at Riverfield.
Betty Ann's greatest joy came from being surrounded by her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She was a loving partner, mother, and grandmother, and her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted companion, Bill Gulick; her two sons, Craig Carlson and Curt Carlson and his wife, Patti; her stepdaughter, Kelly Gulick, and her companion, BJ Apgar; and her stepson, Brent Gulick, and his wife, Madalay. Betty Ann will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Wade and Ian Carlson, Kyle Apgar, and Brendan Gulick, as well as her brother, John Vybihal.
She was predeceased by her siblings, George and Joseph Vybihal, and her sister, Lillian Diaczok.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 3:30 PM at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 1:00 PM until the service begins at 3:30 PM. Cremation will follow privately.
