In Loving Memory of Rachel Janette Barr
June 17, 1952 – July 31, 2024
Rachel Janette Barr, beloved wife of Charles Ernest Barr, passed away peacefully at home in Pittstown, NJ after achieving a 50th Anniversary and 72nd birthday. She was a 23-year survivor of breast cancer, then fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Bristol, VA, Rachel’s early years in Northern California led to a love of nature, friends and animals. Her mother, Mary, inspired a love of fun and beauty, and her engineering father, Ben, shared a keen analytic mind and strong sense of ethics and justice.
Rachel’s career in nursing was dedicated to caring for those in need and she loved the challenges and teamwork in the Emergency Room. She had the perfect mix of skills to be successful at whatever she chose to accomplish. She and Charlie shared a lifetime of adventure in six states (CA, MN, ND, MA, MI, and NJ) and with six dogs and four cats. Rachel’s curiosity and zest for life, made a lasting impact on those around her. Rachel is survived by her husband Charlie; his brothers Thomas, Douglas (with wife Tamara and their son Justin), and Daniel (with wife Lea and their children Evelyn and Jimmy); her sister Paulette; and her nephew Philip (with partner Alberto and their children Dalia and Nico. Her strength, warmth, and love will be remembered by family and friends forever.
