Obituary of Andrew Pecoraro

Andrew "Andy" J. Pecoraro Jr, 85, of Duluth, GA, died peacefully on February 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was known for his kind, funny, outgoing, and loving personality. Born June 27, 1938 in Jersey City, NJ, Andy was the son of Andrew and Isabelle (Schiavo) Pecoraro. He grew up in Jersey City and moved to Englewood, NJ where he attended Dwight Morrow High School. He attended and graduated from Marietta College receiving a bachelors in business.

Andy was a dedicated and hard working individual. He proudly served in the Navy on the USS Ranger. He managed the Dover Bus Company in Dover, New Jersey, before becoming a Transportation Coordinator for the Randolph Township School District. He later transitioned to work as a sales consultant in New Jersey and continued with sales when he moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia in 1994 until his retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marianne; his children Andrew, James, Gina and her husband Michael; eight grandchildren, Devan, Keira, Andrew, Isabel, and Riley Pecoraro, and Jake, William and Lukas Infante and one great-granddaughter, Aoife Murphy. Andy is also survived by his brothers Robert and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Isabelle, as well as his brothers Richard and William.

Andy spent summers with his parents and four brothers on Lake Hopatcong. He manned the Boomerang and the Scrambler attractions at neighboring Bertrand Island Amusement Park in Mount Arlington, NJ. He loved to make people smile and was known for his jokes, which he told often. He loved listening to music, particularly the Oldies but Goodies, and would start dancing as soon as heard an Elvis tune. Most of all, Andy always looked forward to spending time with his family and was always up for an adventure. At 73 years old, he was still riding the Rockin’ Roller Coaster during visits to Disney with his grandkids. He spent many hours planning his travels with his TripTiks.  He would drive Marianne up and down the East Coast to visit family and friends, looking for “padiddles", and trying not to make up time on the road. Andy was an avid sports fan, and would never pass up a Yankees game if they were on the television. He would even watch the Yankees Classics games as if it was his first time watching them. After moving to Georgia, in order to watch baseball, he had to adopt the Braves but always kept one eye on the score tracker to keep up with his beloved Yankees.

Funeral Mass will be held on June 21, 2024, at 11:30am at St Rose of Lima Church, located at 312 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover NJ, 07936. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Ridgedale Ave in East Hanover, NJ.
