I had the privilege of coaching Bob when he played for the cubs football teams when he and other 7th and 8th graders had winning ways. The teams were ready to move up to high school ball. He was a quarterback and leader then. I also had the privilege of hunting on the farm with nephew Ron Witte. So many youngsters benefited from his coaching and athletic wisdom. May he rest in peace. Bob was a great friend ever since he first welcomed me to 2nd grade at Bethlehem Township Grade School. We shared many adventures together over the years. Trout fishing the Musky, hunting pheasants on our Grandfather's farms, and playing sports (especially football) together are just a few of the great memories.
He was a compassionate, caring person with a really great sense of humor. He was also an eternal optimist. In our circle of friends-Bob made the group whole, whether it was a weekend volleyball game, grabbing a slice of pizza at Miller's or just hanging out. He had a way to bring out the best in people. Bob was also a fierce competitor. Our Lehigh - Lafayette rivalry continued long after our playing days ended.
Bob, if there are trout streams in Heaven and I think there must be, save me a place. Love you brother, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten

To the Barnett family, I am so sorry for your loss. Coach Bartnett coached my son in lacrosse on Warriiors. My son Christian went on to play college lax and is in his last year. Christian has always said that he was one of the best coaches he has ever had in all the sports he played growing up. After my son finished the Warriors team he played high school lax in PA, coach came out to a game just to watch him play: that says something about coach. As my son grows older there will be coaches, teachers and mentors that he will remember and Coach Bartnett will be one of them that have affected him in such a positive way. Sorry for your loss.

Here is to my dearest friend of over 50 years.
Bob touched, and truly made a difference in, more lives than I can count. He looked at life with a positivity and spirit seldom found in others.
Bob was like a brother to me of whom and on which I could always count. He is dearly missed.
Starting on the first day as a freshman in high school, my mind and heart are flooded with a lifetime of fond memories with Bob. From talking endlessly about life, friends, family, girls, all sports, but especially football, to practicing together on the grid iron for countless hours as the sun slowly set during our endless summers evenings. We had a special, shared bond.
The world lost a great person, an honest loving soul.
