Obituary of Rosemarie Hammond
Rosemarie (Rose) Hammond (née Lewkowicz), age 69, of Bethlehem Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband, son, sister, and brother-in-law. Born on July 23, 1954, in Perth Amboy, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Wolodymyr Lewkowicz and the late Tekla Lewkowicz (née Zastawna).
After graduating from Perth Amboy High School, Perth Amboy, NJ, Rose headed west to the College of Emporia and then Emporia State University in Emporia, KS. In Kansas, she met and kept lifelong contact with her dearly loved sorority sisters, classmates, co-workers, and everyone else she befriended along the way. She cherished her many home state friends.
It was in Wichita, KS, that she met her soulmate, Bradley (Brad) Hammond, and they were wed on July 14, 1984, in Perth Amboy. A couple years later, they welcomed their son, Paul.
Rosemarie had many passions, with a deep love for family and friends being at the forefront. She would typically lead with her humor and infectious laugh, lighting up any room. She enjoyed experiencing live music with her husband, amongst many other memory-making family adventures, and passed on her love of animals to her son.
She was touched by all of the thoughts, prayers, encouragement, and kind gestures during her long, hard-fought battle. Her strong Ukrainian stock kept her going.
Her earthly journey concluded on the bright night of a rare super blue moon - a fitting farewell to Rose - as those who knew her will attest, a person like her comes along once in a blue moon. She loved (and hugged) fiercely and will be tremendously missed by the many that loved her in return.
Rosemarie is predeceased by her parents, Wolodymyr and Tekla Lewkowicz (Ma was frequently her “partner in crime”); and her beloved niece, Kristy Ann Schaub (née Hornich).
Rosemarie is survived by her husband, Brad; her son, Paul; and her sister, Ann Allen and her husband Roger.
