Hello,
I know I am writing this quite sometime after Mr. Abken’s passing. I did not know him but our family I believe may have had one of his paintings for a very long time. It was most recently for the past 13 years or so hanging in my brother’s home in San Francisco. I think perhaps Werner knew our father John Benedetto and or our uncle Anthony/Tony Benedetto — both artists. I thought you might like to see the painting. My brother only recently passed away so I am thinking about where the painting should now live.

John and I are saddened to hear of your father's passing. He was a guest at our Thanksgiving dinner several times and we always loved hosting this congenial and interesting man. My dad was always especially glad when Werner was a guest because he enjoyed the company of someone who shared his generation. I am glad that his talents have been passed down to his children and grandchildren. I know he will be sorely missed.
