Obituary of Michael B Lynch

Michael B. Lynch, age 85, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his son’s home in High Bridge, NJ.  Born July 4, 1938, in Bailieboro, County Cavan, Ireland, and was  the son of the late James and Bridgid (nee Cullen) Lynch.

After high school, Michael served in the US Army as a Logistics Officer. On May 30, 1968, Michael married the love of his life, Ursula (nee Felauer).  Together they raised two children, John and Monica, who they adored. Michael spent many years working in the restaurant industry, eventually becoming a bar/restaurant owner in Fort Lauderdale, FL until retirement.  

Michael was an avid sports fan. He loved watching all sports especially Irish Gaelic football and hurling and relished the opportunity to tease and liven a conversation always to his benefit. He was a member of The Elks BPO Lodge #1068 in Somerville, NJ.  Most of all he loved spending his time with friends and family. He was often referred to as the "Mayor" due to his magnetic personality. Michael was loved by many and a friend to all.

Michael is survived by his son, John Lynch and his wife Diane; brother, Martin Lynch and his wife Freda; sisters, Annie Thompson, Mona McCormack, Geraldine O'Kane, Breda Hudson, and Delores McArdle; grandchildren, Kristen and John.

Michael is predeceased by his loving wife, Ursula Lynch; daughter, Monica Lynch; parents, James and Bridget Lynch; sister, Mary Denning; and brothers, Mattie Lynch and James Lynch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 24th at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, located at 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale NJ 08801. Michael will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Ursula and daughter Monica at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge NJ. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ. All services will be held directly at church.
