We were so sad to hear about Bob’s passing. We shared many wonderful memories with Alyce and Bob at family functions at their home. He loved to cook and we’ll always remember the delicious ribs he barbequed using his secret recipe that he eventually shared with us in a cookbook he wrote. He would always kid me about being younger than me because we were both born in February 1945 12 days apart, the 4th vs. the 16th. He loved his family so much and he really enjoyed all the family get-togethers he and Alyce planned throughout the years. He was a lot of fun to be around and we’ll miss him greatly. I was so glad I had the opportunity to have lunch with Bob at one of his favorite family eateries, the Washington Diner two weeks ago. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Jay and family, Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I only got to know him a short time at the VFW Post #5119, when we got our Life Memberships together. We both served in the US Navy during the same time, both participated in the Dominician Civil War Intervention, even thought I didn't know him at that time. We were 5 months apart in age. I enjoyed sitting and talking with him when he came to the VFW Post, last year. We shared great stories about our Navy Days! James Conway
I knew Bob for quite a few years. He was my son's grandfather. In the time I was with the family, he was really good to me and helped me out many times and was a wonderful grandfather to his grandkids. He always was so thoughtful and tried to make it so holidays were really special. I always felt that Easter was his favorite Holiday as he always prepared for an egg hunt beforehand and made it so much fun for the kids. We found out the day before Easter that he had joined Alyce and as heartbreaking as it was that he left this world, before that Holiday, there is no denying how hard it must've been for him to go on without her. Bob, thank you for all that you did for us, watching Jay Jr. and creating fun for your grandkids and making things so special for them. While it's a tough pill to swallow that you have left this earth, I know that you and Alyce are enjoying paradise in heaven together.
