Obituary of Amos James Van Blarcom
Amos James Van Blarcom, age 94, of Pittstown, NJ passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Country Arch Care Center in Union Township, NJ. Mr. Van Blarcom was born October 6, 1916 in Jersey City, NJ, where he lived for many years. He also lived in Stirling and Whiting before moving to Pittstown. He served in the US Army during World War II.
Mr. Van Blarcom was a Police Officer in Jersey City for over 35 years.
He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the NY Giants and the NY Mets. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, and golf.
He is survived by one daughter: Susan Van Blarcom of Pittstown, NJ; four grandchildren: Jill Zehnick, Susan Kaufman, James Van Blarcom, Jennifer Van Blarcom; 2 great-grandchildren: Garrett and Graicen Van Blarcom-DeLuise. He was predeceased by his wife, Stella in 1989; son, James Amos Van Blarcom in 2001 and daughter, Judith Catherine Kaufman in 1985.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. The will be a Funeral Mass celebrated Monday, December 20th at 10:30am at St. Catherine Of Siena Catholic Church, 2 White Bridge Road, Pittstown, NJ. Burial will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
