Obituary of John P. Behan
John P. Behan, age 85, of Annandale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home. Mr. Behan was born January 21, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of the late John P. and the late Delia (Griffin) Behan. He lived in Woodbridge Twp., NJ before moving to Annandale 10 years ago.
Mr. Behan served in the Army during World War II where he was decorated with the Silver Star. He also belonged to the VFW and American Legion.
He last worked as a Project Manager for TDX Construction in New York City NY. Prior to that, he was the Officer and President of Local #33 in the Bronx.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale where he was a Reader. He belonged to the Irish Americans Association in Woodbridge, NJ. His hobbies included fishing, coin collecting, fine dining, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years: Brigid T. (Smith) Behan, his loving children: Mary Ann Marsh of Pittstown, NJ, John Behan of Milltown, NJ, Peg Fennell of Annandale, NJ, Brian Behan of Wixom, Michigan, Brigid Cunningham of Milford, NJ, and Bethann Macioci of North Brunswick, NJ; His dear sister: Sister Mary Brigita of Convent Station, NJ. He is also survived 17 cherished grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents: John and Delia Behan and his sister Theresa Gorecki.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31 in Clinton, NJ.
There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, in Annandale, NJ.
Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery on the church grounds.
