Obituary of Lawrence F. Best, Sr.
Lawrence F. Best, Sr., age 84, of Lebanon Twp., NJ died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. Mr. Best was born April 3, 1925 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Frank W. and the late Jane (nee Roach) Best.
He resided in Lebanon Twp., NJ for the past 22 years and previous to that, he lived in Old Bridge, NJ. Larry was a Captain for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and served our Country from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the Gem Vac Veterans Organization, the VFW Post #5119 of Glen Gardner, NJ and the American Legion Post #159 of Flemington, NJ. He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his beloved Wife of 57 years, Grace Best (nee Maguire), his Daughter, Judy Bilicki & her Husband, Walter of Lebanon Twp., NJ and his Son, Lawrence F. Best, Jr. & his Wife, Deborah of Lebanon Twp., NJ. Additional survivors include his cherished Grandchildren; Laura, Krista & Kevin, his Step-Grandchildren; Michelle & Christopher and his Sister, Betty Ann Maver of North Arlington, NJ.
There will be a Memorial Mass held on Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Route 513, Califon, NJ #908-832-2513 or(www.ccsjn.org). In addition, there will be a Memorial Gathering from 10:00 am up to the time of the Memorial Mass also on Saturday at the Church. Family and Friends are invited to meet DIRECTLY at the Church on Saturday morning.
