Not only was Ed my boss for 11 years, he was my dear friend for 27 years. He always had a little give for every occassion/holiday. He knew how much I loved St. Patrick's day and always had a gift for that day for me. Ed taught me a lot about the business world. Dave & Pam, I will remember fondly all of the dinners/parties in the Greenbrook home, especially the chicken schnitzel and beef wellington. I am so sorry I was not able to be there with you all, but know that I am with in spirit. Your dad, my friend, was a wonderful man. I will miss him.

My dear friend Ed, I miss you. I miss our engaging conversations, your listening, your sage advise, our fine meals together, your laughter, your generosity to others, listening to music, and so much more. I was looking forward to seeing the Nutcracker and Handel's Messiah with you this holiday season. You have found your peace, and for that, I am happy. Love, Oly

My best memories are quite old, from the time when I first came to this family. I credit him as the person who introduced me to truly intelligent humor, the longest word in the English language, singing glassware, and Beef Wellington. More recently, in true Grandpa Hoos form, he showed my children the same warmth and generosity he showed to all.

I will remember Ed with a tear and a smile. He brought me so much humor and insite with his e-mails this last few years. His "Shaggy" puns, his quizzes, all gave me a lift on dreary days. I loved corresponding with him about Ann, my Mom, my brother Bill and his son Bill. He and Ann kept the "Smithuysen" family together for many a holiday and Cousin Party. I will miss him greatly. A feel a daily part of my life has closed with his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Dave and Pam and all of his family.
I'm sorry I can't be there for Ed's service, but he will be in my thoughts.
Fondly - Fran

I work for Dr Morris and he will be missed dearly. I was always happy to hear him tell stories of the kids and grandkids and i think the best was seeing the picture he brought in for us from Disney. What a smile that put on his face. My sincerest condolences, the world has lost a wonderful wonderful man.

In Remembrance of Ed Hoos
A Message to a Friend
Today I lost a best friend. His name was Charles “Ed” Hoos. He was my neighbor and my confidant.
Despite the difference in age I always regarded Ed as a contemporary.
He was highly educated, politically attuned, exceptionally worldly, and a most pleasant gourmet dining companion.
More than all of these wonderful above described attributes, Ed was a loving father, as well as powerful patriarch who cared more for his family than he did for himself.
I will never replace the loss of such a friend. My only solace is that I truly believe that in leaving us, Ed has found a way to peacefully return to his beloved wife Ann.
My time with Ed was far too short in term of years.
His imprint on me will last forever...
Ed I will miss you.
Forever your friend,
Bob

Pam and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. When I saw this obituary I immidiately thought of the hours I spent as a child "playing" at your Mom and Dads house in GB. They were wonderful people and my prayers and sympathy are with you all.

I have fond memories of those New Year's Eve parties at the house in Greenbrook. And I recall too those AA committments I shared with Ed. He set a good example of giving in order to help others. May he rest in peace. Sincere condolences to Ed's loved ones.
