Obituary of Gina Gonzales
Gina Gonzales, age 86, of Hampton, NJ, formerly of Oldwick, NJ passed peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Gina was born April 10, 1934 in Dumbarton, Scotland. She is the daughter of the late Peter and the late Renata (Zambonini) Porciani.
Gina came to America on her own in her 30’s and on January 10, 1970, Gina married Teobaldo Gonzales. Together they raised a beautiful family. Gina was known for her kindness, bright smile, and devotion to the Lord. She would take many pilgrimages with her husband to holy sites and was also an active member of the Legion of Mary. Gina and her husband, married over 50 years, were longtime active members of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater.
Gina was an avid traveler and would make annual trips home to Scotland to visit her family who stilled lived there. She always warmly welcomed all guests into her home, where she loved to host parties with her many friends and was famous for her home-baked delicious treats.
Gina will be forever missed by her beloved husband, Teobaldo Gonzales; three daughters, Lusmila McColl, Linda Riedell and her husband William, and Sonia Monahan and husband Keith; grandchildren, Madeline, Owen, Henry, Dallas and Kiersten.
Gina is predeceased by her parents, Peter and Renata (nee Zambonini) Porciani; brothers, Guido Porciani and Rafaelo Porciani.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to family and friends for all their love and support during this difficult time. They would also like to offer a special thanks to the Visiting Nurse Association, and most especially Gina’s home health aide, Helena.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held via livestream on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater, NJ. Interment will follow at the St. Bernard Cemetery. Please use the church website for the mass livestream. The family would like to acknowledge that the mass will be privately held for the immediate family out of respect for health concerns.
