Obituary of Edward Joseph Piotrowsky
Edward Joseph Piotrowsky, 83, Ottawa, Kansas and formerly of North Port, Fla., and Hunterdon County, New Jersey, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at the Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, Kansas.
Ed was born March 7, 1924, the son of Joseph and Abbie R. (nee Hoffman) Piotrowsky in Lebanon, N.J. He grew up and was raised on a dairy farm in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
On October 20, 1946 he was united in marriage to Catherine F. Dohrmann in Fairview, N.J. They shared over 29 years of marriage before Catherine passed away in April 13, 1976. Their union was blessed with four sons, David, James, Francis and Kenneth.
Ed was a hard working and dedicated man who always worked two jobs most of his life. In his early years he farmed with his father until 1958. He later worked in manufacturing plants until moving to Florida in 1980 where he retired after working as a golf club groundskeeper.
He married Hannah L. Grant on Nov. 29, 1980, in Miami, Fla. They shared over 23 years of marriage before Hannah passed away in January 8, 2004.
Mr. Piotrowsky was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Ottawa, where he was on the folding committee and a member of L.O.A.F. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association, Republican National Party and the Ottawa Senior Center. Ed enjoyed people, collecting model autos and tractors and anything involving airplanes. He was also a past Chief of the Glen Gardner Fire Company where he served many years as a Firefighter. He was an exempt member of the New Jersey Firemens Relief Association.
Ed is survived by his four sons; David E. Piotrowsky, and his wife, Martha, Ottawa, James G. Piotrowsky and his wife, Teresa, Belton, S.C., Francis J. Piotrowsky, Sarasota, Fla., and Kenneth W. Piotrowsky, and his wife, Lora, Stewartsville, N.J.; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Mr. Piotrowsky was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Catherine and Hannah; one grandson, Eric Piotrowsky; and one daughter-in-law, Valerie Piotrowsky.
The Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 20th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. With a Firemans Prayer Service on Thursday at beginning at 7:15 pm . There will be a Funeral Service on Friday, September 21st at 10:00 am at the Martin Funeral Home. The interment will be at the Spruce Run Cemetery, West Hill Rd., Glen Gardner, N.J. Following the interment services, the family extends an invitation to everyone to join them for a light lunch and refreshments at the firehouse.
