I was so sad to hear the passing of my cousin. The last time I saw him was at the jersey City Courthouse on my childrens class trip years ago. He recognized me immediately and we caught up about old times up in the country with his dad, my uncle the Judge. Family is important to me. RIP cousin, you were one of the best

I'm so sorry to hear about Judge Grossi's passing. I was a defendant before him in the 1980's in Jersey City and he sentenced me to probation even though the prosecutor was demanding jail time. I had never been in trouble with the law before or since. I went on to live my life with no trouble at all and worked for the same company for 30 years until recently retiring. Judge Grossi was so kind to me and I'll never forget that. God bless him and rest in peace!

Jay and Lori were my first acquaintances upon my arrival at Halstead Place. Of course the commonality was dogs - I have an English Springer Spaniel versus their beloved Brittany spaniel "Chance". Oh how he loved that dog and you could see that Chance felt the same about Jay - they were inseparable. Over the years I had the opportunity to have many conversations with Jay. He was worldly, brilliant, entertaining, caring, compassionate and overall one was blessed to call him friend. It is now with great sadness that we cherish our loving memories of this wonderful man and keep Jay deep within our hearts along with that infectious smile that always warmed your heart. Heartfelt condolences to Jay's loving family, friends and colleagues. Phyllis Baker

Mrs. Desiree Wheeler (retired court clerk) lit a candle

I worked with Jd. Grossi in family court. He was the kindest judge I had ever worked with. He always called me Mrs. Wheeler. I told him he could call me by my first name but he said he loved calling me Mrs. Wheeler because it was his mother’s maiden name and he loved saying it. He smiled every time he saw me and his heart was happy to say my name. I will never forget his kindness. He was kind to everyone no matter what your color or age or what part of the case you were on. It was a pleasure to work with him and I will never forget him. Thank you for sharing him at the Hudson County courthouse. We all loved him. God bless you all and God be with you. I know he is with our Lord and Savior.

Thank you Mrs. Wheeler. How lovely of you to take the time to share this memory with us. Speaking with one of my husband’s friends’ the other day, I learned that the Judge also had a high regard and fondness for you. He apparently shared this same story with his friend Bob. Seems good people have a way of finding each other. Health and happiness to you and your family.
