Obituary of Alan J. Burtis

Alan J. Burtis, age 87, of Clinton Twp., NJ died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Burtis was born July 26, 1925 in Ridgewood, NJ to the late Alan M. and Anna (Bindschaedler) Burtis. Alan was raised in Ridgewood, NJ where he attended elementary and high school. He resided in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 17 years and previous to that, Ocala, FL. He was an Advertising Public Relations Executive employed by EF Hutton in New York, NY and the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark, NJ for many years before retiring. He graduated the University of Virginia. Alan proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was an avid reader, lover of the arts, history and classical music. Survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Juanita (Leazer) Burtis, his sons Kenneth L. Burtis of Glen Gardner, NJ and Alan (Joe) J. Burtis, Jr. of Hackensack, his grandchildren, Kenneth and Matthew and a great-granddaughter. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Martin Funeral Home of Clinton, NJ and were held privately and at the convenience of the family.
