Moving to Clinton in 1970, I had the pleasure of knowing Elizabeth Kershaw from that time until her death. It was a joy seeing Elizabeth acting like a teenager in love over the age of 80 when she and Bill Remsen began dating. He was the light of her life at that time, and he continued to care for her and kept her social life active as he drove her and her lady friends to various functions--the office chauffeur.
Bill was quite a character! He enjoyed receiving my traditional Christmas decorated ginger cookie, Valentine heart candy, and the Irish soda bread--as I baked for the holidays. He always thoughtfully called or sent a thank-you note.
Perhaps he was a bit of a "wild man" behind the wheel, but he truly loved driving and generally went out more than once every day. I'm glad that he was able to enjoy a "quality" life of independence until just recently.
May he rest in peace. Carol
