Obituary of Thomas A Cannizzaro

Thomas (Gaetano) A. Cannizzaro, age 83, of Ocean Township, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Thomas was born November 28, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Pietro and the late Luigia "Lia" (DiStefano) Cannizzaro. He married the love of his life Annette (Macca) Cannizzaro on February 9, 1974.

A graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, Tom spent his entire 40+ year career working for AT&T after being hired at age 17. Tom was a lifelong family provider. His dad passed when he was only 5 years old and he provided for his mother for many years. He took care of all his family's needs allowing his wife to stay home and raise their son. When his wife was ill with (Alzheimer's) he took care of her at home for the entire duration of the 10-year illness until she passed in November of 2015.

A devout Catholic, Tom was a member at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, NJ from 1975-2018 and St. Michaels's Church in Long Branch, NJ from 2018-2020. "Tommy's" many enjoyments included annual family vacations at the shore in Brigantine, NJ, attending weekly mass, adoring his wife, watching the news, and talking with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Flemington, NJ Elks Club.

He is survived by his son Michael Cannizzaro and Michael's wife Kelly, a niece and nephew, and numerous cousins and extended family. Tom was predeceased by his wife Annette, brother Louis, and his sister Rose Vallone.
