Obituary of James Angelo Pitts

James Angelo Pitts, age 73, of Pittstown, NJ passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the Hunterdon Medical Center. Jim was born March 16, 1946 in Pottsville, PA. He is the son of the late Frank and the late Agnes (Drost) Pitts, formally of Elizabeth, NJ.

 

Jim was a devoted husband, father, blueberry farmer, and Volunteer Conservation Officer.

 

He was a graduate of the Raritan Valley Community College and Kean University. Jim was an automobile mechanic instructor at Cranford High School and Union County Vocational School in Scotch Plains and was also a custom cabinet and furniture maker. His hobbies included photography and ham radio. He was a member of the Cherryville Repeater Association and over the years served as a volunteer firefighter with the Chatham Fire Department, Union Hook and Ladder Co. of Far Hills and Quakertown Fire Department. Starting in 2001, Jim served for eight years as a Deputy Conservation Officer with the NJ Fish and Wildlife Department.

 

Surviving is his beloved wife, Daryl Hastings who married Jim in 1985. He is also survived by his daughter, Jaime and her husband Greg Molloy; son, Jason Pitts and wife Susan; grandchildren Shane and Ashleigh of Basking Ridge and Gabriel and Evelyn of Whitehouse Station. Jim was predeceased by his parents and brother, Francis Pitts.

 

Jim was a kind and gentle spirit who touched many lives and will truly be missed.

 

A memorial mass to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2 Whitebridge Rd., Pittstown, NJ. To send words of condolence to the family please visit www.martinfh.com
