Mrs. Farrell was one of the guiding lights of my high school career. She always knew what to say to make me feel better if I was really sick... or to make me feel guilty if I really wasn't. She helped me through some tough times when I was going through some rigorous physical therapy, and she always had a smile and an ice pack with my name on it. I'm thankful that I got the chance to meet such a fantastic lady. Mrs. Farrell, you will be sorely missed.

It was with great saddness and shock to hear of Linda's untimely death--I had not realized she was sick. And I am sorry I learned of this news too late to personally attend services for her. Linda was just wonderful to my children, especially those frequently visiting her at work: DJ and Katie! When both of them heard this sad news, they were filled with grief and disbelief. Linda was always very kind, understanding, non-judgmental and caring to them, as she was to all the students. She also treated the parents in the same manner and I was grateful to have her help in dealing with those high school years. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Farrell Family. God be with you all during this time of sorrow. She will be missed by many, but by none more than you.

Linda was there for my kids at NHHS. She knew just what to say to encourage them. She will be sorely missed by many. What a big huge HEART. I last saw Linda and Bob and others outside of Giant Stadium enjoying themselves at a tail-gating party. It was there that we reconnected. She helped me raise funds for my marathon walk in San Francisco for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her concern was for Jason Schaible - and she asked me to walk for him. That got us talking and renewing an old friendship. Linda is very courageous & she loved her family. I know that the next days, weeks and months will be very difficult for you all. My prayers are that your faith and friends will help you and that you remember fondly memories of your wife/mom when she had such energy and passion to life. God bless you all. With love, Candy, Jennifer & Geoffrey Pamerleau.

I went to high school long ago with Linda and many of the people who have "lit candles" here. I lit one a day or two ago, but I didn't say much because the words were not coming. I remember Linda as this small bundle of energy bounding up and down and everywhere at SPFHS -- friend to all, enthusiastic about everything. Her marriage to a high school classmate is one of the all time great love stories. I've not met her kids -- I've lived in California since the day after we graduated from HS -- but I can guess that they are as boundless as their mom. Her courage these past few months is an amazing inspiration. We lost someone special but heaven got a saint.

I was deeply saddened to receive the email about Linda's death. I truly admired her inner strength and strong spirit, as well as your whole family, Bob, as you worked through these last months. We have lost other classmates from 1971, yet Linda's struggle was different. To see and hear from so many classmates who were expressing concern, wanting to help or just with their prayers. It was almost as if over these last so many months, Linda had put on that old 'color guard uniform' and the rest of us were part of her special rally...I realize perhaps I am not saying it right...but I appreciate it Bob, you allowing Sherry and Lynda to provide the rest of us information and to be a part of your life, the good and the not so good. Thanks you for keeping in touch, when it had to have been so difficult to do so. That is what is so special about friendships! Especially high school friends - it is almost as if one had just walked out the room to get something and returned. The conversation and the sharing of thoughts is so much easier. Perhaps because of the long hours we had spent together when we were at SPFHS. Our prayers are with you Bob, Jeff, Steve, Jody and El.

Her intelligence, insight, sensitivity and bravery were beacons of light for everyone who knew her. Our entire family owes Linda so much. You, her beloved family, are loved and supported in our prayers. We hope that all of us who mourn Linda can be the source of light for you that she was to us. To the Farrell Family,
I was so upset to hear of Mrs. Farrell's passing. She was always dedicated to North Hunterdon and was passionately and caringly involved in so many different parts of NHHS. I remember I had to go to her with a medical form and she was very easy to work with and give good loving advice. You are all in our prayers,
James Flannery

The North Hunterdon High School community is deeply saddened by the passing of Linda Farrell, our school nurse. Mrs. Farrell has been with us since September 1998 and I cannot put into words how greatly she will be missed. It was truly a blessing to have had someone so special as part of our North Hunterdon family for the last nine years, though we wish it could have been for much longer. Mrs. Farrell was an amazing woman, someone very caring, thoughtful and gentle. She has touched the lives of thousands of students and staff members during her time at our school.
I offer our sincerest condolences to Mrs. Farrell’s family and friends. We will miss her.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Hughes
Principal of North Hunterdon High School

My guess is that God had an opening for a school nurse in Heaven because Linda would be the best candidate!
Linda was like the mother hen of North Hunterdon High School. Linda always thought of the student's first and foremost. We've had many great discussions on student achievement and helping the parents in my office. We've had many good times and laughs while she was here. She was a great role model for me and she will be surely missed but never forgotten. I will take many life lessons she's taught me into my position as an administrator.
God Bless Linda and her family
Sincerely,
John

SAT Testing: As a favor, Linda administered the test to athletes so that they could participate in a track meet--she was at school before 6 a.m. on a Saturday to do this!
Linda's warmth, enthusiasm, caring, and giving were indicative of the fine person she was. She always had time for you and made you feel special.
A wonderful chat during Teen Arts performance at the States brough us closer together.
She was so excited about Bob's coming to North Hunterdon as Dept. chair; her love of her husband and her family shined through.
Linda Farrell was truly a remarkable woman loved by all.
I, too, shall miss her very much.
