Fred Gable was not only a devoted husband and father, but to our family a dear friend. His constant thoughts of our daughter Brianna and CJ were always greatly appreciated. I can only hope that Brianna has as much determination and drive to get through her own treatments as he did. I've never seen a person go through such a horrific disease with no complaints and such dignity. He is an inspiration to our family and will always be remembered with respect and admiration by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his Jamie, Heather and Brian to get through this time by not remembering the bad times but the good.

I didn't get the chance to know Fred as well as I would have liked to. I knew him best through my sister-in-law who has told me many funny stories over the years. Things I observed at soccer games and other times, were that he was a very devoted loving father, husband, and grandfather. I'm so glad my Nieces and Nephew had a close relationship with their grandfather. He spent a lot of time with them and gave them a lot of love, and that is something they will never forget. That is what I knew of Fred Gable.

I had the pleasure to work with Fred as well at Loews for over 11 years. I have so many great memories of Fred. From his thorough Cost of Goods / Per Cap spreadsheets, the day he helped cooked lunch for the entire company and wore his apron and chef’s hat, to his stories which always included that famous laugh. They all bring a smile to my face and I am sure to yours as well. I consider myself very lucky to have had the honor to work with one of the true Legends of Loews. You will be missed but will fondly be remembered forever. To Jamie, Heather, Brian and Family, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this very trying time and hope our memories help ease the pain you are experiencing.

I was fortunate to have known Fred for over 20 years. I started at Loews around the same time as Fred and we shared many of the hardships and successes together. During the years, I have learned a lot from him about the candy business as well as life. Even now, I can hear him say that the Concessions Department was the only profit center in the company.
Fred, your positve, can-do attitude, fairness, sense of humor and willingness to mentor and teach are attributes that you have instilled in me. I hope I can only be as good at it as you were. I will truly miss the good times that we shared at Loews.
Please accept my deepest and heart-felt sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gable Family.
Fred, dear friend, may you rest in peace. I will miss you tremendously.

My life i sbetter for having shared time with Fred. He was a man who always had that "twinkle" in his eye. On one business trip with him, he explained how he learned about the "double up" program by visiting the airport bars. We then tested that theory a few times during the trip. It worked well.
He was a very genuine person. What you saw id what you got with Fred. He loved his family and I used to look forward to coming in and gearing about what Brian's stats were in the games over the weekend.

Dear Jamie, Heather & Brian,
Words don't feel enough of an expression of how I feel of Fred's and your dad's passing. He was a wonderful, special man & I'm so honored to have known and worked for him at Loews from 1986 until the time he left in 2002. There are so many good memories I have of him. It was truly a pleasure coming to work everyday. He exhibited a pleasant demeanor to all he came into contact with, always. People would come to me & tell me "what a nice boss you have", and oh did I know it. He never a bad word to or about anyone. His level of integrity was unmatched to that of anyone that I've encountered in the business world to date. He always did what was ultimately good for the dept., the company and not
especially the best for Fred himself. He was such a good human being. I always said I would take a bullet for that man he was that kind of individual.I meant it and still would if I had to.
Thanks to all of you, Jamie,Heather & Brian for sharing him for all those years with me and all those at Loews who benefited from knowing him.
I will miss him always and always remember him as my "the Boss".
Sleep well dear boss ... dear friend.

Dear Jamie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.
We were grateful that we went to the Albright/Zeta Reunions and got to see you and Fred. When Fred told me he was sick, I gave him a hug and spilled my gin and tonic all over him. He looked at me like it was no big deal. Afterall, he was not just a friend... he was a brother.
I treasure the times we had together, expecially when I came home for a reunion and stayed with you back in the 70's. I not only admired Fred for his intellect and leadership, but most of all for his character.
Sometimes kids in college wonder if they made the right choice in selecting fraternities. After I met Fred, I knew I had made the right choice.
I wish I could be there, but will go to a liquor store tomorrow and drink a shot of "The Govenor" in a toast to Fred.

Although I didn't work with Fred directly and didn't see him on a daily basis, he was a pleasant man with a smile on his face and always had time to at least say hello. It makes me sad. You don't realize how short life is until you hear about the passing of someone, at such an early age during these times, who you once worked with which makes you realize how important one's life really is and how just one person can affect someone else's life, and then you are reminded of your own mortality. We just had a reunion and it was nice seeing everyone and I'm sure Fred would have wanted to be there if he could have. Even though Loews is no longer, he was an asset to the company and we will all remember him with fond memories.
