Obituary of Earl C. Walker
Earl C. Walker, age 94, of Hampton, NJ died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ surrounded by his loving family and friends. Mr. Walker was born July 1, 1919 in Clinton, NJ. He was the son of the late George and the late Stella (Hendershot) Walker.
Mr. Walker was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. Earl was a police officer for the Borough of Hampton and served as Chief from 1955 to 1973. He was also employed as a special police officer for Flemington Borough and he was a former security officer at the Flemington Fair Grounds. More recently Earl was a truck driver and mechanic for several farms in Hunterdon County.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Earl was an avid sportsman who was particularly fond of deer hunting with family and friends. He was often seen chewing on his stogie. In his younger days he was a semi-pro baseball player and he also enjoyed racing cars at the Flemington Speedway.
Earl is survived by his devoted son, Steven J. Walker of Hillsborough, NJ and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Eleanor C. in 2008, his daughter, Kathryn May Walker in 2001, his infant children; Earl Jr., Andy and Sarah, his daughter-in-law, Linda Walker in 2011 and his brothers; George and Lester.
Earl's Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday, March 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral service on Friday, March 21st at 11:30 am also at the Funeral Home. The interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
