Dear Kay,Jay,Jeff, James and Family, I was sadden to hear the news about Jays passing. I will always have many fond memories of Jay. I first met him while at Voorhees when the boys played basketball and football. He was a proud parent and supporter of his boys. Through out the years he continued to follow and support our athletic department. He even became a wrestling fan! Jay was a fixture on our footballs chain gang and honored several years ago by being inducted into the Voorhees Hall Of Fame! It surely is a privilege and honor to have known him and to have share some wonderful times together. I will also miss the good old days when Don Beam, Al Dittmann and the gang would get together for some well deserved fellowship. We always enjoyed all of the stories that he shared with us, especially the one about the time he flew over the farm to see if the boys were working or not! It was the round about way to landing in Newark! But what I will remember the most of many things will be his laughter and warm smile. God Bless, Bob Hallf

Dear Kay,
My brother in North Plainfield told me about Jay's death and sent me the obituary. Mary and I are saddened by the news and send you and "the boys" and your whole family our sincerest condolences. As you know, Jay was my earliest childhood friend, born six months before me and living two houses away on North Main Street. Jay, his brother and father made my first Soapbox Derby racer for me with wheels we took off our tricycles! We swam together every summer in the big pond. We even saved a guy from drowning once. Walking the railroad tracks and hitching rides. So many childhood memories, all of them good ones. He knew how to get into the belfry at the Reformed Church, so we were able to climb up and ring the bell on VJ Day. A vivid memory, especially when the elders arrived to ring the bell and found us already doing it! We were 15. I guess I was visiting High Bridge shortly after you married, and I remember thinking what a lucky guy he was. 1958? I remember his smile and his big laugh. And how impressed I was (and am) that he could fly an airplane. From the obit and other people's comments, I can see that he led a full retirement as well as a full life. And, for you both, a happy one, I'm sure. Be well.
With fond memories and best wishes,
Jim Tolley

Dear Kay and family, my deepest sympathy. Jay was definitly a pillar to the township. I recall him being at the police station with me when the 911 attack took place. he had a pretty good handle of what was happening. I also had the privilege of you and him being at my retirement. I will miss running into him.

I checked the obit's this morning and I was not there, but my old pal "Red" Weeks was. We knew each other and were friends for 75 years. In our later years we drifted apart, but he was always in my thoughts as I hope I was in his. Just last week I was telling a story about swimming every spring. On the first day of trout season he always fell in. We hunted, fished, swam, and did everything together. We were like brothers. My 20 gauge has a bubble in the right barrel caused by a "double charge" when re-loading ammo in his garage.
I always intended to stop by his place, but I just did not get to it. That's the way life is.
I offer my condolances to Katy. I remember when you two were married all those years ago. Trips to Washington in the middle of the night; calls at any hour for a breakdown on the way to Newark. He had a good life and I am proud, pleased, and honored to have been a part of it.
He may be gone, but I shall continue to tell stories about my pal and the fun and laughs we used to have.

Dear Jay-I'm so sorry to see of your Dad's passing. He was a great guy, and, even though I only saw him a few times dropping Chris and Vince off to play at your house, it was always fun chatting with him. I bumped into him a few times since our sons graduated from VHS, and, he was a pleasure to talk to. With my sons in the military, he was always asking about them and how/where they were. Chris and Vince will be sorry to hear of Pete's grandpa passing. They always like him, too. I'm sure he died being proud to call you his son. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Sincerely, Chris Sakos
