Alice was an extraodinary individual and I feel privileged to have published her excellent book THE AZC's OF SELF-ESTEEM. I will never forget her discerning smile, her rare ability to listen, and her delight in laughing. Her love & wisdom has enriched generations of teachers and her legacy, through them, will continue.
Our family is keeping the Castner family in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.--Steven

To a beautiful woman in spirit and life, that touch so many people lives with love and life. I will always remember Ma as a grandmother and mother-in-law that extended the freedom to those she knew to be who they were and to live life fully. This picture is a reflection of who she was in life and what she offered to so many of those who knew her. We will miss you Ma.
Living life to the fullest. David and Vivienne

Dear Lisa,
I have many fond memories as a young girl spending days with you at your home. It did not matter how we spent our days, be it talking about boys or tending to our shared hamster Oliver, your Mother would come to us at day's end & say, "how was your day girls, good, bad, or indifferent?" Then we'd give her the run-down! She always seemed interested in treated us with respect, that now upon reflection, made us feel so "grown-up!"
Please know that while our lives grew far apart, I hold our childhood memories dear & your Mother will always remain a loving part of them.
I extend to you and your family my sorrow at this most difficult time.
Most sincerely,
Ann Smisek-Hart

Dr. Alice Z. Castner was my mentor for the past 39 years when she interviewed me to be a master's student in FDU's Graduate Center for Human Development. She hired me as an adjunct upon my graduation, despite hearing my husband say, "I'm so glad to get my wife back from Human Development!" She was a member of my doctoral committee and became my best friend as we mentored each other
Dr. Alice was a rare human being; she cared about people and wanted everyone to be humanly developed. She had uncommon sense and the uncanny ability to assess a situation and deliver a wise one-liner.
I will miss my dear friend; I cherish memories of our lunches and dinners together. She will live in my heart forever.

Alice was one of my favorite cousins. She was bright, gentle and soft spoken. She also managed to masterfully duplicate her Mom's wonderful prune cake! She will be missed and always remembered.
